Update 09/2024: Added instructions for installing DSM 7.2 on Proxmox virtual machine
Today, May 22, 2023, Synology has just released a version DSM 7.2 new, with codename 7.2-64561. This version adds many new features and updates the software packages PHP, Apache, phpMyAdmin (see details).
Besides, the XPEnology community also quickly updated Automated Redpill Loader (ARPL) to support installing DSM 7.2 on self-built computers.
I tested the installation on the Proxmox virtual machine, everything ran fine, no errors at all. Not sure if long-term use will have any problems, let’s wait a while to test it.
How to install DSM 7.2 on Proxmox virtual machine is almost similar to how to install DSM 7.1 I shared before. You need to see the main instructions here
There are only 2 changes:
1. Download ARPL to support DSM 7.2
Visit here to find the ARC Loader download link: https://github.com/AuxXxilium/arc/releases/ . The current version is 24.09.29
Download files arc-24.09.29.img.zip Go to proxmox, then unzip and connect to the virtual machine.
2. Configure Bootloader
The steps to configure the bootloader are identical to the instructions for installing DSM 7.1. The only difference is in the build number section, choose 64561.
3. Install DSM 7.2
The steps to install DSM 7.2 are exactly the same as DSM 7.1. After installation is complete, you will see the Welcome to DSM 7.2 welcome screen as below.
