[Writing Techniques] Choosing the right perspective will make writing media content less confusing.

Choosing the right perspective significantly helps the appeal and persuasion of brand content to the target audience.

  1. People working in the information technology industry are constantly updated with new knowledge.
  2. You will regularly be updated with new knowledge when working in the information technology industry.

Which of the two sentences above do you find more impressive?

The second sentence is more specific, placing the listener as the main character and creating a sense of closeness, increasing interest, while the first sentence refers to “ people in the industry ” in a general way. The only difference between the two sentences is the title (the writer’s perspective), but it has a big impact on the reader. Of course, it also depends on the different contexts when placing the two sentences above.

That is the effect of writing with the right point of view. Choosing the right point of view significantly helps the appeal and persuasion of the content to the target audience.

UNDERSTANDING FIRST, SECOND, AND THIRD PERSON POINTS

Each article (such as an analytical report, social post, storybook…) has a certain “point of view” (POV) of the author. Answer the question “Where is the narrator, the writer with the perspective in the article?” The writer will determine who is telling the story, and who is writing for whom to read. Does the writer retell his own story, or rewrite someone else’s story?

Building a clear perspective is extremely important for readers to visualize the story, message conveyed, and personality of the Brand. The two most common POV choices when writing content are second-person POV and third-person POV. However, you can use first-person POV to talk directly about your brand and business.

POV First Person

With this writing style, the writer is the central character of the story. They can tell their stories, actions (or those of the company or brand), give opinions based on experiences, experiences, opinions, theories…

You can use the first person (I, we…) when referring to individuals or businesses. This way of addressing brings a closer, more approachable feeling. It easily builds trust with customer files and target audiences, especially effective when writing content about brand stories or introducing customer service.

For example: “We is on a mission to transform the E-Commerce industry with eco-friendly packaging solutions

POV Second Person

Writing in the second person establishes the reader as the main character in the conversation, dialogue, or content. The writer wants the reader to participate directly in the writing flow through the use of the pronoun “you”.

This name makes you feel like you are sitting opposite, chatting intimately with customers. This usage is often used when conveying messages, consulting or “educating” your customers. This is quite useful to create self-contemplation and evaluation on the part of readers. Self-help books often choose the second person as the point of view for writing.

For example: “This is not only a place to share knowledge about Marketing, Communications, Advertising and Creativity, but also a place to Friend Feel free to “explore” and “discover” everything related to the industry.

POV Third Person

With third-person-based writing, the narrator is the one who knows everything. The third person (we, them, company…) is used in formal writing style and environments, creating professionalism, objectivity and politeness. This title is often used in analytical reports, research articles and sharing a large, macro perspective.

For example: “E-commerce businesses can now access environmentally friendly packaging solutions that meet all their shipping requirements”.

Perspective when writing content

Young people need to pay attention to the consistency of Point of view in titles when writing articles (Source AI)

CONSISTENCE OF POINT OF VIEW IS KEY IN WRITING

In any paragraph or content format, pay attention to writing inconsistent and consistent titles.

  • When talking about your brand, use first or third-person
  • When writing to readers, use second or third-person

Please try to refer to the two paragraphs of content below to see how the combination of names will create tone, mood and style for the article.

Paragraph 1 uses the first person (bold) when talking about the brand and the second person (underlined) when referring to the reader:

We is on a mission to transform the e-commerce industry with eco-friendly packaging solutions yours. By redesigning the way products are packaged and shipped, we aims to significantly reduce waste and carbon emissions, making online shopping a more sustainable choice for you and customers your. The approach of we not only addresses the environmental impact of packaging but also provides a greener, cleaner way to Friend connect with your customers

This is a similar paragraph 2 of content above, rewritten in the third person (bold) when referring to the brand and the third person (underlined) when referring to the reader:

EcoshipCo is on a mission to transform the e-commerce industry with eco-friendly packaging solutions. By redesigning the way products are packaged and shipped, company aims to significantly reduce waste and carbon emissions, making online shopping a more sustainable choice retailer and shoppers. The approach of trademark not only addresses the environmental impact of packaging but also provides a greener, cleaner way to brands connect with their customers

Do you notice the difference:

  • Paragraph 1 clearly creates the relationship between the brand and the reader, like sharing and quoting the brand while talking or conversing with customers.
  • Paragraph 2 is in the form of News, or content in a report written by an objective writer (an outsider).

Paragraph 1 is appropriate in the page content “About us” of the brand/ brands. Paragraph 2 is a part of common press releases. The use of personal pronouns depends on the context and purpose of the article.

When starting to write content, the author is the one who decides what style is appropriate. Titles in your essay allow you to speak with the right tone and create impact. The content and information provided not only affects the readers who receive it, but also brings feelings and motivates actions behind it.

However, uniform use of one pronoun without appropriate inflection can cause errors in expression in the article as in the paragraph below:

A brand color palette is a selection of colors that visually represent a business. These colors appear on all promotional materials your – from designing company logos, websites, social networks to product packaging your”.

The above paragraph simply gives a Definition for a concept, but has a repetition error. This is a small error in the writing process, you can correct it by adjusting the second person as follows, which will bring a clearer, more logical concept:

“A brand color palette is a selection of colors that visually represent a business. These colors appear on all promotional materials of the company – from designing company logos, websites, social networks to product packaging”.

Summarize

When you choose the right POV and follow it throughout your article, you will build a solid structure for your content, helping readers follow and understand your intentions. Choosing a point of view and perspective each has its own power in touching the reader’s emotions and thinking. This is not only a writing technique but also an art of influencing, persuading and connecting.
